The Power of Self Awareness in Leadership
Two questions to ask yourself when you’re leading a team of people.
Whether you know it or not, when you’re leading a team of people, they are always looking at you.
They’re looking at how you:
Think
Speak
Act
And more often than not, they will mirror you.
If you’re speaking down to them.
They’ll speak down to others.
If you’re quick to respond and don’t take the time to listen.
They’ll be quick to respond and won’t take the time to listen.
If you’re not taking vacations.
They won’t take vacations.
They are watching your every move.
If you don’t take feedback.
They won’t take feedback.
There are two questions to constantly ask yourself:
Am I self-aware?
And
How coachable am I?
The more self-aware you become, the more you can see your:
Strengths and weaknesses.
The more coachable you are, the more you’re able to build upon your weaknesses.
AND
The more coachable your team will become.
